ImWind secures loan to add 80 MW of wind, solar in Austria

    March 24, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

March 24 (Renewables Now) - Vienna-based renewable energy producer ImWind Erneuerbare Energie GmbH has arranged EUR 100 million (USD 108.79m) in financing from lender Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederoesterreich-Wien to support the construction of wind and solar power plants in Austria.

The funds will be spent on three wind projects in Weinviertel, Lower Austria and a solar scheme in Nickelsdorf, Burgenland with a combined capacity of 80 MW, ImWind said this week.

Once up and running, the four power plants are expected to supply more than 40,000 households in Austria with clean electricity.

The financing arranged with the Austrian cooperative lender comes from a climate loan programme for Austria that the European Investment Bank (EIB) launched last year.

ImWind has been developing, building and operating wind farms and photovoltaic parks in Austria for over 25 years. In total, 140 wind and solar plants now produce around 1 TWh of clean electricity annually and supply over 300,000 households in Austria.

In January, the company hired German solar developer Goldbeck Solar to build two solar parks with a combined capacity of 42 MWp. The two projects are located in Nickelsdorf in northeastern Burgenland close to the Hungarian border and in Tauernwind, Styria.
