FirstEnergy names new president and chief executive officer

FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE), a United States-based utility company, has named Brian X. Tierney as its president and chief executive officer, effective June 1, 2023.

Tierney succeeds interim president and chief executive officer John W. Somerhalder II. He has served as the global head of Portfolio Operations and Asset Management for Blackstone. He has served for 23 years at American Electric Power Company, Inc. (AEP) where he worked in various leadership positions. He has 28 years of experience in the industry.
