March 29 (Renewables Now) - Swedish utility Vattenfall AB has selected Norwegian offshore wind and subsea contractor Havfram AS as the preferred supplier for turbine installation services for its 3.6-GW Norfolk offshore wind projects in the UK.
The agreement covers transport and installation works over a period of three years with the starting date set for the spring of 2027, Havfram Wind said in a press release on Wednesday. Financial details were not provided.
To perform the works, Hafram Wind will use one of its newbuild NG20000X jack-up wind turbine installation vessels with a 3,200-ton crane.
“The Norfolk Boreas and Norfolk Vanguard projects are of particular interest, because of their multi-GW size and their important contribution to the UK renewable energy market, the largest in Europe,” Havfram Wind’s CEO Even Larsen noted.
Vattenfall initiated the development of Norfolk Vanguard back in 2016. The Swedish firm earlier this year hired Danish engineering consultancy COWI to oversee the detailed design phase of the onshore cable installation for Norfolk Boreas.
