Chinese companies strike deal to construct wind farms in Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region

    March 29, 2023 - Trend News Agency

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Uzbekistan and China signed a memorandum of understanding on launching the construction of wind farms with a capacity of 1000 MW in the country’s Jizzakh region, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry.

The memorandum was signed between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy with the following Chinese companies: “China Huadian Overseas Investments”, “China National Electric Engineering Company” (CNEEC), and “SANY Renewable Energy”.

According to the signed deal, “China Huadian Overseas Investments" will participate in the wind farm construction project as an investor, "CNEEC" — as a general contractor, while "SANY Renewable Energy" will supply wind turbines to Uzbekistan.

The ministry’s statement says that within the framework of this memorandum, Chinese companies will make direct investments of $1 billion in the project.

Uzbekistan's government pays special attention to boosting renewable deployment countrywide. In this regard, Uzbekistan attracts funds from international organizations and cooperates with major energy suppliers to develop the country's energy sector.
