March 30 (Renewables Now) - Spanish renewables company Grenergy Renovables SL (BME:GRE) has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) associated with 469 MWp of solar energy in Spain.
Under the agreement, the US technology group will procure around 665 GWh of electricity per year. The arrangement will run for a period of more than ten years, Grenergy said.
The PPA entails the off-take of electricity generated by three of Grenergy’s solar farms in Spain. These are the 250-MWp Tabernas, the 47-MW Jose Cabrera and the 172-MWp Ayora.
The Spanish renewable power producer expects these solar farms to become operational in 2024, according to a brief announcement.
This is the company's second corporate PPA announced in March. Earlier this month, Grenergy unveiled an agreement with Netherlands-based chemicals multinational LyondellBasell Industries NV (NYSE:LYB) for a 259-MWp solar farm in Spain.
