Vietnam wishes to strengthen energy cooperation with Belgium

    May 18, 2023 - Vietnam News Gazette

17 May 2023 (VOV5) Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Vietnam has great potential and advantages in developing renewable energy, especially wind power and solar power, and Vietnam encourages investment in this sector.

At a meeting with Ambassador of Belgium to Vietnam Karl Van Den Bossche and CEO of John Cockerill Group Francois Michel in Hanoi on Wednesday, Prime Minister Chinh said that the recently approved Power Plan 8 aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. He suggested that John Cockerill soon decide to invest in long-term production in Vietnam in renewable energy, especially the production of green hydrogen and biomass fuel.

PM Chinh asked the Ambassador and John Cockerill Group to promote chip manufacturing and innovation with Vietnam. He said he hopes the Belgian Group will soon set up its office and research or training facility on hydrogen and renewable energy at the Vietnam National Innovation Center in Hanoi.

The Belgian Ambassador affirmed that Belgium wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in various fields. The CEO said that this visit to Vietnam aims to seek opportunities to expand investment in Vietnam, contributing to making Vietnam a stronghold of John Cockerill Group.
