BlueFloat-Renantis team seals exclusivity for 199 MW off Scotland

    May 19, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

May 19 (Renewables Now) - The BlueFloat Energy and Renantis Partnership announced on Friday it has signed exclusivity agreements with Crown Estate Scotland for the development of 199 MW of floating wind capacity awarded in a recent seabed leasing round focusing on innovation.

The deals are in relation to the Sinclair and Scaraben innovation projects in the North Sea, each of 99.5 MW. They will be developed as part of a phased delivery of the partnership’s 900-MW Broadshore project off the coast of Fraserburgh in Scotland.

BlueFloat and Renantis said that the two sub-projects will explore innovations in foundation technologies, associated fabrication works and mooring systems. One focus point of the scheme will be the testing and adaptation of a community ownership model.

The partnership, which has a 3.1-GW portfolio of ScotWind projects, is also getting ready to take part in an upcoming seabed auction by The Crown Estate with two 1 GW projects, namely Petroc and Llywelyn, it noted.
