May 19 (Renewables Now) - Spanish solar developer Solatio Energia presented on Wednesday two green hydrogen and ammonia projects in the Brazilian state of Piaui that would require a combined investment of about BRL 30 billion (USD 6bn/EUR 5.6bn).
One of the projects is planned for the North of the state and the other is in the South. Together, the two plants will have the capacity to produce 820,000 tonnes of ammonia for export and 1.23 million tonnes for the domestic market.
According to an announcement from the Piaui government, the combined development will represent the largest industrial project in the history of the state.
The presentation follows up the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) by Governor Rafael Fonteles and Solatio officials during the recent "Summit Piauí - Green Hydrogen Europe" event in Portugal.
