Sweden: Wind power capacity expected to reach 17,500 MW by end-2025

    May 22, 2023 - M-Brain Nordic News

In Sweden, figures from the Swedish Wind Energy Association (Svensk Vindenergi, SWEA) show that there were two new orders for wind turbines totalling 103 megawatts (MW) in Q1 2023. The association expects that the total installed wind power capacity will reach 17,500 MW at the end of 2025, with an annual production of 52.6 TWh. The latter figure is an adjustment downwards from the previous forecast of 52.7 TWh. The association expects a solid growth for wind power in 2023 as a whole, with a downturn expected in 2024. It is deemed necessary to increase the rate of permits granted in the period 2025 to 2030 in order to meet the major increase in demand from industry.
