New Delhi, May 24 -- Renewable energy firm Suzlon on Wednesday said it has secured a major order from Torrent Power for developing a 300 MW wind power project.
As per the order, Suzlon will install 100 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 3 MW each.
"This is the fourth order from the Torrent Group to Suzlon. This is also the sixth and the largest order of the new Suzlon 3 MW series turbine so far," said Suzlon.
The wind power project is located in Karnataka and is expected to be commissioned in 2025.
Torrent Power had won this project through competitive bidding in SECI Tranche XII and entered the power purchase agreement (PPA) in March 2023.
Torrent Power currently has an aggregate installed generation capacity of 4.1 gigawatt (GW) which consists largely of clean generation sources such as gas (2.7 GW) and renewables (1.07 GW).
It also has a capacity of 0.4 GW of renewable generation plants under development apart from the 300 MW wind project just awarded.
"Torrent has experience working with Suzlon in past for its wind projects and has technically preferred Suzlon for the 300 MW project based on its latest and more efficient 3 MW Wind Turbine Generators with a rotor diameter of 144 meters," said Torrent Power in a press release.
