Germany seeks to award 1.6 GW of solar in new tender round

    May 30, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

May 29 (Renewables Now) - Germany's Federal Network Agency has initiated the second round of the ground-mounted solar tender, targeting projects with a combined capacity of 1.61 GW.

Bids for ground-mounted solar parks and solar plants on structural systems that are neither buildings nor noise barriers will be accepted by July 3, the regulator said last week. The maximum value for the round is set at EUR 0.0737 (USD 0.079) per kWh. The competition is structured under the pay-as-bid model.

The first round of the auction for this year garnered significant interest. The Federal Network Agency targeted 1.95 GW of capacity and received proposals with a combined capacity of 2.86 GW, signifying revived interest in the tender.

Overall, Germany aims to allocate a total of 5.85 GW of capacity in this category in 2023, divided into three calls. The last one is planned for December 1.
