Solar. Iberdrola will produce 300 MW more near the Portuguese border

    May 30, 2023 - CE Noticias Financieras

Iberdrola is preparing to install a solar photovoltaic power plant for the production of electricity, with an accumulated capacity of around 294 MW, on Spanish territory, near the border with Portugal.

The Spanish electricity company, which also operates in Portugal, has obtained prior administrative authorization, as well as administrative authorization for construction, from the Directorate General of Energy Policy and Mining.

The infrastructure, composed of photovoltaic panels, will be installed in Cedillo and Herrera de Alcántara, located in the Extremadura region and very close to the border with Portugal. Iberdrola already has a similar plant in a nearby location, with an output of 100 MW, as well as a hydroelectric plant that has almost 500 MW.

With the future installation, Iberdrola will reach 3,867 MW in energy production in Extremadura, 47% of which corresponds to energy produced through 12 photovoltaic plants.
