ASTANA. May 31 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) - The governor of the Zhambyl region, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, discussed with representatives of China Power International Holding Ltd. wind power projects in the region, the local administration said in a press release.
China Power made a presentation of its projects for the construction of a wind turbine tower plant with total investment of $53 million, a wind turbine nacelle plant worth $25 million and a wind turbine blade plant that will cost $70 million, according to the press release.
Nurzhigitov pledged that the local authorities will provide all necessary support to the Chinese investors under the Kazakh government programs.
Kazakhstan's Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna said earlier this month that China Power International Holding Ltd. (CPIH) and China's SANY Renewable Energy will build a 1GW wind farm in the Zhambyl region in pursuance of the memorandum of cooperation signed on May 18 in Xi'an by Samruk-Kazyna, the Kazakh Ministry of National Economy, CPIH and SANY Renewable Energy. The document was signed during the official visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to China.
