May 31 (Renewables Now) - Swedish renewables developer OX2 AB (STO:OX2) and its partner Ingka Investments have engaged Danish power cable manufacturer NKT A/S (CPH:NKT) for the supply of cables for two offshore wind projects in Sweden, the recently awarded Galene project and the Triton development.
Under the conditional agreement, NKT will supply up to 210 km (130.5 miles) of offshore and onshore export cables and will install the offshore export cables for the projects. The deal will involve deliveries from NKT’s facility in Karlskrona, Sweden.
According to the announcement, the agreement will allow OX2 and Ingka Investments to start realising the projects once final permits are granted.
Emelie Zakrisson, Head of Offshore Wind Development, OX2 Sweden, noted that this is the second conditional contract for the company’s offshore projects Galene and Triton in Sweden. German firm EEW SPC has been recently lined up to supply monopile foundations for the two schemes, which are expected to be of 1.7 GW each.
OX2 earlier this month secured permission from the Swedish government to build the northern part of the Galatea-Galene project, with a potential capacity of 400 MW.
