In Sweden, the Land and Environment Court in Vänersborg has approved of the planned offshore wind farm Kattegat South (Kattegatt Syd) outside Falkenberg, Halland County. The court decided that the wind farm can be provided a Natura 2000 permit. The wind farm will be developed by Swedish state-owned energy company Vattenfall. Birdlife Sweden has criticised the plans due to negative influence on birds, but according to the court, the wind farm should not cause any significant disturbances. The criteria for pilework in relation to the construction are sharpened. The Swedish Government recently provided approval to around 100 wind farms off the coast of Halland.
