Project cost : AED 1.92 bn
Project Description : The project includes building a hydroelectric power station in the mountains next to the Al Hattawi dam in addition to other development projects. The power station will work by making use of two reservoirs. The first is the lower reservoir, which is currently located in Al Hattawi Dam. This reservoir is 400 metres above sea level and its capacity is 1,716 million gallons. An upper reservoir will be built in the shape of a lake and will be 700 metres above sea level. The horizontal distance between the two reservoirs will be 3-4 kilometres with 300 metres difference in height. Solar energy, which is the cheapest form of energy, will be used to power water turbines to pump water from the current lower reservoir to the upper reservoir that will be built. The speed of waterfall from the upper reservoir will be used to generate electricity and connect it to DEWAs grid. The efficiency of the power station will reach 90% with response to demand for energy within 90 seconds.
