Weg announced on Wednesday 13th that it has entered into a partnership with Petrobras, with the state-owned company investing around R$130 million over the next 25 months to develop a 7MW onshore wind turbine.
The agreement covers the development of technologies for the production of wind turbine components, suitable for Brazilian wind conditions, as well as the construction and testing of a prototype, with technical and commercial counterparts for Petrobras.
Weg expects series production of this equipment to begin in 2025.
"In addition to its role in the expansion of national onshore wind power with the development of the 7 MW wind turbine, this partnership also provides for collaboration in the assessment of the supply chain and logistics for offshore wind power generation in Brazil," according to a statement to the market.
