Efacec announced this Tuesday, September 12, that it has signed new contracts with Red Eléctrica, the Spanish system and transmission operator (TSO), worth more than 25 million euros, to optimize the electricity grid in Spain and the Balearic Islands.
The contracts "to modernize the power transmission network" include the supply of 12 power transformers for substations on the 400 kV (kilovolt) transmission network in Peninsular Spain and on the 245 kV network in the Balearic Islands, Efacec said in a statement.
"The supply to the sole transmission agent and operator (TSO) of the Spanish electricity system will be carried out over the next two years under contracts established last semester with Red Eléctrica," the document reads.
The projects follow on from the 2021 contracts, "with Efacec remaining one of Red Eléctrica's largest suppliers of power transformers", the company points out.
According to a source at Efacec, the 2021 contracts provided for the supply of 20 power transformers.
"Efacec has established itself as one of the main players in the strong investments taking place in the Spanish transmission network until 2026, in order to respond to the massive integration of renewable energy generation, the needs of international interconnection and non-peninsular territories and improving the security of the Spanish electricity system," the company stresses.
According to the note, Efacec has been present in the Spanish market since 2001, with around 25,000 MVA (MegavoltAmpere) of transformers in operation in various Spanish utilities.
