CIP, Andel team up to bid in Danish offshore wind tenders

    September 15, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

September 15 (Renewables Now) - Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Danish energy and fibre-optic group Andel are teaming up to bid in two offshore tenders in Denmark.

The two Danish companies will compete for two projects located “attractively close” to the Danish island of Zealand -- Hesselo Offshore Wind Farm in Kattegat north of Zealand and Kriegers Flak II in the Baltic Sea. Together the wind farms, slated for completion by 2029 and 2030, respectively, will have a capacity of at least 1.8 GW.

The projects are part of plans for 9 GW of offshore wind tenders in Denmark, for which political agreement was reached earlier in 2023.

“In our investment program up to 2035, DKK 90 billion [USD 12.9bn/EUR 12.1bn] will be invested into growth and the green transition. Now, together with CIP we are ready, and it is our goal to win the tenders for Hesselo and Kriegers Flak II,” stated Andel chief executive Jesper Hjulmand.

Jakob Baruel Poulsen, managing partner at CIP, said Andel complements CIP’s competences with its expertise in operating electricity supply and trading energy in large volumes. “Our common ambition is to be an important driver in the realisation of the potential for even larger amounts of renewable energy generation in Danish waters,” he added.
