September 15 (Renewables Now) - A partnership between Photon Energy, Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation, JA Mitsui Leasing and Fuyo General Lease has joined forces with Taiwan’s Ark Solar Energy to build a 120-MW solar park at a fishery in Tainan, Taiwan.
Ark Solar and the companies from the Photon Taiwan Fund joint venture (JV) will set up a special purpose vehicle for the construction of the project, Toshiba said on Wednesday.
Dubbed the Solar Fishery Symbiosis project, the scheme will create a photovoltaic (PV) complex that will supply electricity under a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA). The output will be sold to an unnamed semiconductor manufacturer.
According to the statement, building works were initiated in August and are now underway, with commercial operations expected to be launched at the end of next year.
The partners’ future plans envisage the construction of an additional 360-MW park at the same site to expand its overall installed capacity to 480 MW.
