Danish shipping and logistics group Mærsk has teamed up with French container shipping company CMA CGM on the development of future green fuels. Rodolphe Saadé, CEO of CMA CMG, said the partnership is a milestone for decarbonisation of the industry. The news comes after Mærsk's ownership fund A P Møller Holding recently revealed that it will establish the company C2X, which will produce 3 tonnes of green methanol annually from 2030 onwards. By 2040, the Mærsk group is aiming to reduce CO2 emissions to zero. The group expects consuming 5 tonnes of green methanol by 2030. The current global production corresponds to less than 1% of this volume.
