Numerous neighbors of La Plata, Berisso and Ensenada suffered yesterday the consequences of a power outage which also affected the water supply service, as indicated by ABSA. The residents used the newspaper's communication channels, both WhatsApp and telephone 425-0101 to express their complaints about the situation, and in the absence of information from Edelap regarding the reason for the power outage and when it would be corrected. The utility company, on the other hand, stated that these were "programmed outages". And that around 10:30 am the situation began to normalize.
Meanwhile, Absa indicated that "after the power cut registered during the early morning and part of this morning (yesterday) at the Donato Gerardi Water Treatment Plant in Punta Lara, the water service in the region is gradually being restored". They also indicated that "the plant is again in production, allowing the gradual start-up of the pumping of the Bosque and Ensenada Water Lifting Stations, and the gradual recovery of the service".
Despite this, they clarified that "it is possible that low water pressure may be registered in some sectors of the networks of La Plata, Berisso and Ensenada", something that was expressed by different property owners throughout the day.
COMPLAINTS ABOUT service failures
In the area of 117 and 64, Norma told this newspaper that they were left without supply past midnight and that in the morning they were still in the same situation. "It's always the same thing. You call and call and nobody answers. We have filed a complaint but we want them to tell us what happened and when the power will be back on".
Sergio, from the same area, also complained about the service: "I noticed that the power was cut at dawn and when I got up to take the kids to school I realized that we are the same. I need to work at home with my computer and I won't be able to, because the internet doesn't work either. And on top of that I am left without water because without the pump there is no water in the tank. It's always the same story in this neighborhood.
In the area of Plaza España they are also without electricity and they assured that several schools in the area had to suspend classes. "They sent the children home because without electricity they have no water and cannot teach classes", complained a mother. It was learned that activities were suspended at both Primary 43 and Euforión school. On the other hand, it was reported that a power outage has been affecting the area of 6 and 44 since the night before last.
IN BERISSO AND ENSENADA
Meanwhile, in Berisso they suffered a similar situation. Marcelo, one of the victims, said that "we have been without power since 1 am. The cut goes from 122 and 66 to 123, from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. The same thing always happens in this area". They also reported inconveniences in 122 bis, from 10 to 12, and adjacent blocks. "Please, someone help us. The power always goes out. We have already been without power for 8 hours", said Santiago before 8 o'clock yesterday morning.
Complaints also came from Ensenada. In this case Fabián told EL DIA that in "the area of El Dique we have been without electricity since early morning". And then he ironized: "Due to the constant service failures this is Argentina, a mixture of Venezuela and Africa".
Edelap assured that it was "programmed works in the network that were carried out during the whole night. Users and our networks were informed". And they added that "the areas were being normalized".
NO WATER AND ABSA'S COMPLAINT
For its part, Absa sent a statement to denounce a "prolonged power outage" that affected the operation of the Donato Gerardi Water Treatment Plant.
"Absa informs that due to a prolonged power outage that has been registered since early this morning (early yesterday morning) at the Donato Gerardi Water Treatment Plant in Punta Lara, the water service in the region is affected," said the company. They informed that "an operation has been activated to maintain the operation of the plant by means of alternative energy. However, the operation of the water treatment plant has been reduced in its production capacity, leading to maneuvers that resulted in the stoppage of the Bosque and Ensenada Water Lifting Stations".
Finally, they specified that "for this reason, there may be a lack of water in the urban area of La Plata, and in Ensenada and Berisso, mainly in those homes that do not have the capacity to store the liquid in reserve tanks or cisterns".
Then, in an update of the information, it was indicated: "After the power outage registered during the early morning and part of this morning (yesterday) at the Donato Gerardi Water Treatment Plant in Punta Lara, the water service in the region is gradually being restored".
