Norwegian company Havfram's CEO Ingrid Due-Gundersen has commented on the recent criticism of offshore wind energy. She says the offshore wind farms that have come on stream largely deliver according to expectations. That is not really bad for a relatively young industry, she adds. In addition to the increasing size of offshore wind turbines, general inflation and supply chain capacity challenges have contributed to weakening the profitability of the projects. Several players have attempted to renegotiate the terms of development with their respective authorities. Ingrid Due-Gundersen says there is initially need for support by public authorities, but ads that the industry must profitable in the long term.
