Macquarie bets on 2.4-GW onshore wind partnership in Australia

    September 21, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

September 21 (Renewables Now) - Macquarie Asset Management today unveiled a partnership with Perth-based Green Wind Renewables Pty Ltd (GRW) to jointly develop an up-to-2.4-GW portfolio of onshore wind projects in Western Australia.

The asset manager of Aussie financial services giant Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX:MQG) and GRW will work on the projects through a joint venture (JV), which may be expanded with additional schemes in the future.

The partners have already secured land agreements for the schemes and will move on with resource monitoring activities. The projects are currently in the early stages of development, with community consultation sessions to be held as the development process proceeds, the companies said.

The proposed capacity is planned to be connected to the South-West Interconnected System (SWIS).

Macquarie Asset Management noted that the collaboration will diversify its portfolio of renewable generation projects and “establish a well located and diversified portfolio in high wind resource areas.”
