Suzlon bags 29.4-MW wind turbine order for hybrid project in India

    September 22, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

September 22 (Renewables Now) - India’s Suzlon Energy Ltd (BOM:532667) said on Friday that it has received a 29.4-MW wind turbine order for a project involving hybridisation of wind and solar power at a site in Osmanabad in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

The order was placed by US-based clean energy developer BrightNight, which among others specialises in delivering hybrid renewables solutions. BrightNight seeks to install a 100-MW hybrid wind and solar power generation complex in Osmanabad.

Suzlon’s responsibilities will include the supply of turbines, installation, commissioning and the provision of operation and maintenance services once the wind farm portion goes online.

The wind farm will feature 14 units of Suzlon’s 2.1-MW S120 - 140m wind turbines with a hybrid lattice tubular tower.

The wind turbine maker expects to commission the project in phases, starting in April 2024. Once in operation, the facilities will supply electricity to commercial and industrial customers in Maharashtra.
