September 22 (Renewables Now) - Renewable energy company EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) announced on Thursday it has put into operation its largest solar park in Europe, the 200-MWp Przykona project in centre-west Poland.
The renewable facility features around 308,000 bifacial panels capable of generating close to 220 GWh of clean energy per year. This volume is enough to meet the annual demand of more than 100,000 local homes.
“With this installation, the company has a cumulative solar power capacity of more than 280 MWp in the country, accounting for more than 90% of its total solar capacity in Europe," said Duarte Bello, Chief Operating Officer of EDP Renewables in Europe and Latin America.
Last month, the company switched the 45-MWp Konary solar park in the northwestern region of Greater Poland, which shares a receiving station with its 79.5 MW Pawlowo wind farm. This move created EDPR's first hybrid facility in the European country.
