TVA Invites Public to Open House for Proposed Transmission Project in Lee County

The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking for public input on proposed transmission system improvements to provide power for growing load and increase power reliability in the Nettleton area of Lee County. TVA proposes to invest about $16 million to build a new power line connection from the existing Tupelo-Okolona 161-kV Transmission Line to Tombigbee Electric Power Association’s upgraded Nettleton Substation located at 7095 Will Robbins Highway in Nettleton. TVA is committed to working with area stakeholders and encourages public input.

NETTLETON, Mississippi, Sept. 21 -- Tennessee Valley Authority issued the following news release:

The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking for public input on proposed transmission system improvements to provide power for growing load and increase power reliability in the Nettleton area of Lee County.

TVA proposes to invest about $16 million to build a new power line connection from the existing Tupelo-Okolona 161-kV Transmission Line to Tombigbee Electric Power Association’s upgraded Nettleton Substation located at 7095 Will Robbins Highway in Nettleton. The new line would be less than 8 miles and built using primarily single-pole, steel structures on new 100-foot-wide right of way.

TVA is committed to working with area stakeholders and encourages public input. The public is encouraged to attend an open house any time between 3 and 7 p.m., CT, on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the Dorothy J. Lowe Nettleton Public Library at 165 Young Avenue in Nettleton. Detailed maps showing the different locations being considered for the proposed transmission line will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns, and receive comments.
