    Poland's first nuclear power plant to operate for 60 years in base scenario

      The project is to be developed in 2 stages, according to the decision. The construction itself is to take 8 years.

      On Friday, the environment minister Anna Moskwa told PAP that The General Directorate of Environmental Protection (GDOS) has issued a positive decision for the construction of Poland's first nuclear power station.

      Poland expects to start the construction of its first n-plant consisting of 3 blocks in 2026. The first block, with the capacity of ca. 1-1.6 GW, is to be commissioned in 2033.

      Overall, Poland's nuclear power program assumes construction of six nuclear blocks with total installed capacity of ca. 6-9 GW, with the implementation schedule set out to 2043.
