Multan Electric Power Company was fined over Rs 5.5 million over power pilferers after detection of 1,28000 units during a crackdown while 71 cases have been registered against them.
XEN, Muhamamd Wasim talking to reporters said on Thursday that 2.4 mln have been recovered so far for stealing electricity.
He informed that as many as 20 pilferers were caught red-handed adding that over Rs 3.I mln have yet to recover, and a total of seven cases are yet to be registered. Rs 11 bln tube well defaulters of Kissan Ittehad are in the Vehari division, Mr Wasim disclosed. The operation will continue till nabbing of the last power pilferer, he concluded.
