September 25 (Renewables Now) - Swiss renewable energy producer and trader Axpo Holding AG has signed a wind power purchase agreement (PPA) with Pilkington Automotive Finland Oy, part of glass producer NSG Group, to energise a couple of Finnish manufacturing facilities.
Under the terms of the contract, which was unveiled today, two automotive glass production sites will receive an annual total of 35 GWh of power generated by the 30-MW Storbacken wind farm, located near the city of Voyri in Finland.
NSG Group targets sourcing at least half of its electricity from renewables by the end of fiscal 2024. The new contract will contribute to achieving this goal and to the group’s 2030 science-based target of lowering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 30%.
“We are delighted to sign this long-term PPA with our partner Axpo Nordic to secure renewable electricity for our facilities in Finland. Securing fixed prices for zero-carbon electricity, especially during a time of such volatility, will support our customers and be a huge step towards our sustainability objectives,” commented Jussi Parkkali, managing director of Pilkington Automotive Finland.
