September 26 (Renewables Now) - German turbine manufacturer Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) has been contracted to supply and install hardware for a roughly 30-MW wind farm project in Romania, it said on Tuesday.
The order was placed by an unspecified client, who has requested the name of the project to be kept under wraps.
Under the deal, Nordex will deliver five of its N149/5.X turbines and put them into place next year. The 5.9-MW machines will be mounted on tubular steel towers with a hub height of 125 metres at a site in southeastern Romania.
Once the wind farm goes online, Nordex will oversee its operations under a 20-year premium service maintenance agreement.
The German manufacturer previously supplied turbines for three Romanian wind farms with a combined capacity of 100 MW. “This local know-how is another advantage for the new project, with the long-term service contract, to optimize the power generation of the wind farm,” said community service officer Patxi Landa, highlighting Romania’s highest wind potential among all countries in Southeastern Europe.
