September 29 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian utility company Neoenergia SA (BVMF:NEOE3) announced on Thursday it will build a distributed generation (DG) solar park in Bahia state with a 3-MW generation capacity.
Named GD Itapebi, the solar plant will supply electricity at a more competitive price to residents and businessmen in the Neoenergia concession area in the state. Its output will be directly injected into the local distribution network.
GD Itapebi is the first of its kind for the company. It will be implemented near the Itapebi Hydropower Plant, also owned by the company, in the Jequitinhonha Valley region.
Neoenergia noted this initiative can be applied to other hydroelectric plants in the group.
