Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced that the release of the second batch of treated nuclear wastewater from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean will commence on 5 October.
TEPCO plans to release approx. 7,800 tons of nuclear wastewater, the same amount as the first discharge, into the sea over a period of around 17 days.
Preparations will begin on 3 October. The nuclear wastewater will be placed in a large tank to check tritium levels when the nuclear wastewater is diluted with sea water before release.
If the concentration complies with expectation, the discharge will begin on 5 October.
