In the auction, the average price of electricity in the wholesale market - the so-called 'pool' - will be 101.61 euros/MWh this Saturday. The minimum price, 70 euros/MWh, will be between 15.00 and 16.00 hours, while the maximum price will be between 20.00 and 21.00 hours, when it will be 144.15 euros/MWh.

To this pool price is added the compensation to the gas companies, which has to be paid by the consumers who benefit from the measure, the consumers of the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being in the free market, have an indexed tariff, which for tomorrow will be at 0 euros/MWh, a situation that has been repeated since last February 27.

The average price of electricity in the monthly accumulated up to March 18 stands at 99.91 euros/MWh, i.e. almost 33 euros less than the 132.67 euros/MWh of the same period in February.

The 'Iberian mechanism', which came into force on June 15, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of 48.8 euros per MWh for a period of twelve months, thus covering the coming winter, a period in which energy prices are more expensive, according to Europa Press.

Specifically, the 'Iberian exception' sets a path for natural gas for electricity generation from a price of 40 euros/MWh in the initial six months, and subsequently, a monthly increase of five euros/MWh until the end of the measure. Throughout this month the price will be 55 euros/MWh.
