Kualalumpur: Here is the text of news released by official news agency Bernama on its website:

Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), through Petronas Marine brand, has inaugurated the liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering business with long-term partner Tiger Gas.

In a statement today, Petronas said this followed the completion of its maiden ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation of approximately 500 tonnes of LNG for Tiger Gas’s Tiger Maanshan, the world’s largest dual-fuel deck cargo ship.

“Tiger Gas thus becomes the first Chinese customer of Petronas LNG bunkering business,” it said.

Petronas vice president of refining, marketing and trading Ahmad Adly Alias said the national oil company is committed to making sustainability the cornerstone of its operations in China by providing energy solutions that would help accelerate the progress towards the republic's ‘dual carbon’ goal whilst collectively contributing to the energy industry growth alongside its partners.

Meanwhile, Tiger Group chairman Gerry Wang said the group and Petronas have maintained a sound partnership for a long time.

"Today, offshore ship-to-ship LNG bunkering has greatly shortened the turnaround of LNG carrier vessels laying a solid foundation for a more efficient and greener LNG supply chain.

“In the future, Tiger Gas will continue to work together with Petronas to facilitate the energy transition,” he said.

Moving forward, Petronas said it will remain committed to the Chinese market, empower the Chinese energy industry and contribute to the country's economic development, and will work with its Chinese partners and create a green and sustainable future together.
