WASHINGTON, May 18 -- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued a notice called: Takes of Marine Mammals Incidental to Specified Activities; Taking Marine Mammals Incidental to SouthCoast Wind Energy, LLC's Marine Site Characterization Surveys Off Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The notice was published in the Federal Register on May 18 by Catherine Marzin, Deputy Director, Office of Protected Resources, National Marine Fisheries Service.
Summary: In accordance with the regulations implementing the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) as amended, notification is hereby given that NMFS has issued an incidental harassment authorization (IHA) to SouthCoast Wind Energy, LLC (SouthCoast Wind; formerly known as Mayflower Wind Energy, LLC) to incidentally harass marine mammals during marine site characterization surveys off Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
