KAEFER has been awarded the contract for providing insulation services to one of the most significant LNG projects globally.

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has developed into one of the fastest growing energy sources in recent years. With its clean-burning and efficient properties, LNG is becoming an increasingly popular fuel for power generation and transportation, among other uses, as it plays an important role in meeting global energy demand while reducing carbon emissions.

Qatar is the world's largest exporter of LNG, accounting for over 30% of global LNG exports. The country's North Field is one of the biggest natural gas fields in the world, and its development has been a major focus of Qatar's energy industry for several decades. In 2017, Qatar announced plans to develop the North Field East project, which includes six LNG trains that will increase Qatar's liquefaction capacity by 64% in 2027, making it one of the largest LNG projects in the world.

The North Field East project is significant not only for its size, but also for its use of new and advanced technologies. The project includes the use of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as innovative cooling technologies that will reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency.

KAEFER is very pleased to announce that we have been selected by Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) as their insulation partner for this project. For KAEFER, the Qatar LNG NFE project is the culmination of more than 50 years at the forefront of LNG technology.

"This is one of the mega LNG projects in the world," says Sanjay Kumar, Managing Director of KAEFER in Qatar. "The services we are providing are largely the same as those we have delivered on other similar projects around the world. However, the sheer scale of the project is what makes it special. At peak times we'll have up to 1,500 KAEFER people working on the project, and we'll have to bring more than 2,000 containers of materials to the site. It's the biggest contract we've ever won in the Middle East, and we are confident that our many years of experience in this field, as well as our commitment to ESG, HSEQ and LEAN practices, will give us a significant advantage."

"LNG is in KAEFER's DNA and in many ways the company is arguably one of the best in the world to successfully deliver this type of project," adds Adam Portaro, Executive Director of KAEFER's LNG Solutions Centre. "The nature of the work involves many of the things that KAEFER naturally does best, from the design and execution of complex industrial facilities such as offshore central processing facilities and onshore LNG liquefaction plants to regassification terminals, all of which require KAEFER's specialised services."
